Snakes, turtles, and frogs

Who ever thought a little girl would want a "reptile party". That's a very brave girl if you ask me. Her mother wanted reptile themed cupcakes. This is what I came up with...

Birthday Cookies

I made these cookies for a 2 year old's birthday. I tried a different technique on butterflies this time and I think they turned out great. I even put "eyes" on them.

Mermaid/Polka Dot Cake

I made this cake for Anna who turned 4 yesterday. She wanted a cake that had mermaids and polka dots on it. So, I did the best I could!! Happy Birthday Anna!

Wine Bottle Cake

This was my first attempt at a wine bottle cake. I had a lot of fun making this one. I think it turned out pretty well. The bottle and "packing material" are fondant, the crate is chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream.

The Map Room

I was asked to do a cake for a friend's birthday. My husband suggested I make a Map Room cake which is where Ray, the birthday boy, met his wife. They were recently married so I thought this was a great idea for a cake.
It was a chocolate cake with peanut butter filling. The Map Room logo and trees were made with fondant.

Scooby-Doo where are you??

I got a request this week to make a "mystery machine" for a birthday party. I decided to add the bottom layer to add interest and feed more people. House, Scooby-Doo, and Shaggy are made of gum paste, then hand painted.

Absolut Cake

I got an order for an "Absolut Vodka" cake the other day. This is my first time doing a cake like this and I have to admit it was more frustrating than I thought it would be.

I made two attempts. The first "bottle" was too square. I also used a stencil I cut and royal icing for the label since I don't have an edible printer. I didn't like the shape of the bottle or the label. I got mad and ripped off the fondant and started over.

For my second and final attempt, I used an edible marker and royal icing for the bottom of the bottle. I also cut away some of the bottle to make it rounder. I used silver luster dust to create a frosted look.

Ok for a first try I guess. I'm going to look in to getting an edible printer. Would have made my life easier and the cake perfect!

Baby Shower Cookies

Mermaid Cake

This cake was for my princess. She turned 5 and wanted an Ariel cake.

Princess Party

Each princess had an accessory. Snow White had an apple, Ariel had a fish, Cinderella had her glass slipper and Belle had her rose. The cookies were for the bags sent home with each kid after the party. I made tiaras, a carriage, and magic wands (not pictured).
